Dominican University New York, located in Rockland County, 20 miles north of New York City, invites applications for the position of part-time Administrative Assistant to the Division Director of Math and Science.
Work schedule: 28 hours, 4 days a week, 7 hours per day. Specific days to be determined.
Academic year: August 15 through June 15
Responsibilities: Assists in the coordination of the divisional course schedules each semester. Interacts with students and faculty to facilitate the needs of students with regards to advisement, meetings, and class registration. Keeps track of all expenses to ensure budget limits are on track. Serves as the main contact for adjunct faculty requests. Orders supplies, processes payment vouchers and maintains student and divisional files. Processes faculty appointment forms, collects faculty syllabi and teaching load forms for filing. Completes Division updates and revisions to the Dominican University New York Catalog through the computer system. Coordinates the Science Seminars and Research Symposium and other ad hoc meetings, including invitations to students and/or faculty, food service arrangements and attends meetings as required. General office functions include answering phones, preparing correspondence, filing, and scheduling appointments.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Experience: One to two years of office experience, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Experience with Blackboard LMS a plus. Excellent communication skills both written and interpersonal. Ability to work in a team environment and with a diverse population. Bilingual in English-Spanish a plus.
