In one year of being there, they have prepared me in securing a job my first year into college. Throughout the process of looking for this job, both ladies were highly invested into helping me succeed. Vitalizing their resources and their preparation skills has been of great value to me. There is no doubt that I will continue to work with them throughout my college experience. With many thanks.
Career Development Testimonials
As an incoming international student athlete, making sure I had my goals and career aspirations in place was of utmost importance. While both Rose and Evelyn understood the situations and barriers of being an international student, from my freshman year, they dedicated their time, energy and every ounce of their effort in assisting me to achieve. In my opinion, the Career Development Center is one of the most valuable departments on campus. Not only are they assisting you in resumes, mock interviews and cover letters, they are the ones that are with you every step of the way when looking for a job or internship and preparing you to venture out into the real world. My advice to you is to take that time to form a relationship with both Evelyn and Rose. With their compassionate personalities, their optimistic attitudes and dedication to helping you succeed, it will only be a pleasant experience working with them. Understand the value of their service if you are looking for the best preparation for your entry into your career or internship. I strongly believe that when you put in that time to search and look for work positions, both of them will be there with you assisting and helping in every way they can.

I transferred to Dominican College in 2018 to begin my studies for my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I remember from the start being highly impressed that Dominican offers a Career Development Center for students. Being that I was new to healthcare and seeking employment in a healthcare setting, I reached out to Evelyn Fiskaa for assistance. She helped me land a position in a healthcare facility that has truly helped shape me into the person I am today. Evelyn goes above and beyond to help students achieve professional resumes. I will forever be impressed with Evelyn’s resume skills. I am also pleased to say the relationship I built with her over the years has developed into a trusting relationship. My biggest advice for students would be to utilize the Career Development Center while at Dominican. I promise it will be one of the best things you can do while being a student!

The Career Development Center is definitely one of the most important and effective departments at Dominican College. Evelyn Fiskaa and Rose Macom are two excellent professionals who prepare, guide, and assist students through their transition from college to a career path. In order to make such a transition as smooth as possible for all students and alumni, a significant variety of events and activities are held by the department. Besides mock interviews and career fairs, workshops for essential professional tools – such as resumes, cover-letters, and LinkedIn profiles – are offered by the Career Development Center. Personally, the CDC helped me to secure three different internships. Besides expanding my social/professional network, each internship experience helped me to decide what career I would like to pursue after completing my academic duties.

I first came to the DC Career Development Office as a new graduate student who needed a part-time job. At that time, I found a good position through a job posting, but I never would have gotten the job if Evelyn Fiskaa had not helped me update my resume. Fast forward 3 years. While on furlough from clinical internships I found a fantastic remote job opportunity through DC postings. Once again, Evelyn helped me revamp my resume and I was selected from over 900 applicants for an interview. The postings and resume review are invaluable. For any student this is your “go to” office on campus to get the help you need to succeed in the workplace.

The Career Development Center is a place I highly recommend every student to visit. Both Evelyn and Rose go above and beyond to ensure students receive opportunities and qualities they can have throughout their whole life and academic career. They dedicate their time to provide perfected resumes, internship opportunities, mock interviews, workshops, fairs, and panels, to not only prepare students but inform them as well to what is available. I had the pleasure to be the Career Development Center’s intern where I truly learned and saw the valuable services they offer and how helpful their office is to the college. Working with Evelyn, Rose, and Andrea was the best choice I have ever made because they not only are amazing people but they also prioritize and make sure students take advantage of what is available to them while helping them every step of the way. I feel every student should visit the Career Development Center!

I loved my meeting at the Career Development Center. I needed help with my resume and looking for a summer job. Evelyn helped me make my resume look highly professional and even took the time to introduce me to job searching sites according to what I was looking for. She even provided me with folder and resume paper towards the end of our meeting. Evelyn was extremely understanding, caring, and helpful. I don’t know why I waited until the second semester to set up an appointment there!

The Career Development Center is a department at Dominican College that I strongly encourage all students to utilize at least once. Meeting Evelyn Fiskaa has truly been an irreplaceable gift. Evelyn helped me to navigate through some very challenging times both personally and professionally, and I honestly don’t think that I would be a registered graduate student today if I hadn’t have met her. The level of professionalism, expertise, and genuine compassion for the students is what makes the Career Development Center, and Evelyn in particular, an integral part of your Dominican experience.

One of the best pieces of advice I received while at DC was to get to know Evelyn Fiskaa and Rose Macom. Every semester I made it a priority to meet with Ms. Fiskaa or Ms. Macom to update my resume. Ms. Macom helped me tremendously with making my resume look professional and searching and applying for numerous internships, one of which hired me full-time once I finished my last semester. Make an appointment ASAP and get to know the both of them! They are always more than willing to help.

The Career Development Center is an advantage every student at Dominican should be using. Evelyn and Rose have helped me find jobs and internships in places I wouldn’t know where to look. The mock interviews have allowed me to work on myself and be more prepared for certain questions. Events such as Career Day and the Career Fair have given me the opportunity to make connections with employers and people I would have never met. I hope students use this because it is there for them!

The Career Development Center at Dominican College is a resource that I strongly vitalize that all students make use of. Evelyn Fiskaa is the most hardworking individual that I have met that stops at nothing to help students when needed. Evelyn helped me with so much while at Dominican and even after I graduated, as well. She helped assist with making my resume, cover letter, LinkedIn profile, and applying to jobs as well. I strongly encourage all students to go in and meet this lovely individual and get her expertise help.

The Career Developmental Center is one of the programs that make this institution great. I love the weekly emails about job openings and events. One particular event I love is the Career Day often held on a Friday in February. I always seem to learn so much from employers, play career jeopardy, and win free movie tickets. Evelyn Fiskaa was great in helping me with my resume, in a nice written form. I was able to work at a job in New City because of the email sent by Evelyn. Rose Macom was a great addition, her networking made me receive a summer internship. She worked with me months on end to find this internship. And the great thing is, I can receive three credits for the semester. We have two wonderful women here at DC. And all students should take advantage, even after graduating!

The Career Development Center has been a pivotal factor in my success at Dominican College. From utilizing all that the CDC has to offer such as FOCUS 2, resume and cover letter assistance, job search support, and mock interviewing, my skills and confidence have developed greatly throughout my four years of college. In utilizing the Career Development Center, I was able to land various jobs such as being a Resident Assistant and Peer Mentor on campus, as well as aiding me in landing an internship position at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. With guidance and mentorship from the Career Development Center, I was fortunate to land a position in Residence Life before graduation. I had the pleasure of working in the CDC and being part of the Student Career Board which helped me network and gain connections throughout various events we held on campus. Evelyn, Rose, and Andrea will work with any student to help them reach their full potential and land the position that they want. Any and every student should take full advantage of the life changing opportunities available through this office.

Career Development is a service that needs to be utilized while at Dominican College. Without it I would not have had the opportunities I had today. It allows you take your career into your own hands creating a balance of hands on help and independent searching so that you can do what is necessary for the future. Evelyn is always available and knowing I can just stop by to talk about my endeavors even after graduation is wonderful.

Throughout my four years here at Dominican College the Career Development Center has helped me land two jobs. The staff members are very helpful and are willing to take the extra time to make a difference in your resume or cover letter. The different events that the Career Development Center holds help make the difference; whether it is interviewing skills or the do’ s and don’ts in the workplace. The Career Development Center believes in “more than an education a relationship” and it shows in the work they do. Thanks for all of the help!

I cannot begin to list all of the ways in which the Career Development Center allowed me to grow as an individual and a professional. Evelyn and Andrea go above and beyond to provide Dominican College students with the insight and resources they need to compete and be successful in the work force. Mock interviews, resume workshops and career fairs allowed me to discover my skills and put them to the test. As a result, I landed a summer internship at one of the top urban radio stations in New York City. I also secured a competitive position as an AmeriCorps volunteer for City Year. The support given by the staff is truly genuine and incomparable. If there is one place you should visit regularly while on campus, it is the Career Development Center… where opportunities are endless!

The Career Development Center at Dominican College was a great resource for me! From the first day I stepped foot into the office, the staff has gone above and beyond in supporting me with my career search. The guidance I received, from the critiquing of my resume and cover letter to helping me get part-time jobs while I was still at DC. It was a great resource that has helped me tremendously. Even as an alumni they still reach out to us with employment opportunities!

I don’t even know where to begin. Meeting with Evelyn has been such a wonderful, inspiring, influential experience. With the help of her I am able to show people my resume and be very proud about it. Without her assistance I can honestly say that my resume would look really bad. If you get a chance, need help, need guidance go make an appointment to meet with Evelyn!

I am a senior about to enter what I know is a very tough job market. Luckily for me, Evelyn Fiskaa and the rest of the Career Development Center department have put together so many useful programs to prepare me for what’s ahead. This semester I have participated in workshops relating to networking; resume building and interviewing, just to name a few. I am confident that what I have gained from these programs will give me an advantage in my transition into the professional world. I highly recommend that students take advantage of what the Career Development Center has to offer. I certainly will continue to do so. Thank you!

The Career Development Center helped me with my applications to law school. Without their kind words, enthusiasm, and dedication, I would have been completely lost.

Evelyn Fiskaa has been extraordinarily supportive and helpful in assisting me with my job search. When assisting students, with their employment search, Ms. Fiskaa, keeps the students’ needs and qualifications in mind, in order to attain an appropriate fit for both the employer and student. In my opinion, Ms. Fiskaa is a wonderful asset to Dominican College.

My last year at Dominican College, I went to many events hosted by the director of the Career Development Center, Evelyn Fiskaa, and her smile makes you feel welcomed. Evelyn did a speed mock interview for the seniors and it was so helpful. It taught me to always network and maintain relationships throughout business. She also helped create a resume, which has landed me several job opportunities. Additionally, her knowledge of maintaining and creating a professional role in society has helped many students start our professional pathway. I always went to the Career Services office with any questions; the atmosphere is welcoming and both Evelyn and Andrea have an extensive amount of information to prepare college students for entering the real world, full of professionals.

The Career Development Center was nothing but a positive experience. Its prepared me for the multiple interviews I had to go through, and through their help I was able to get an M&A internship, as well as a series of offers from many investment banks. The result: acceptance of an offer before graduation.
