Director of Admissions

Dominican University New York is seeking a dynamic Director of Admissions to lead the University’s Admissions Department into the next phase of its successful progressive development. The Director of Admissions is a key member of Dominican’s management team and will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategic initiatives to attract, recruit, and enroll a diverse and talented student body. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent leadership and organizational skills who is able to communicate effectively with all levels of management. The ideal candidate will also be capable of proactively working independently and collaboratively, especially with key members of the enrollment process team including Student Financial Services and Marketing.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement strategic recruitment and admissions plans to achieve University enrollment goals.
    • Proactively manage tactical efforts to improve the efficacy of the enrollment process.
    • Lead and manage the Admission’s team, providing guidance and professional development.
    • Oversee the enrollment process, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for prospective students and their families.
    • Collaborate with various University departments to align admissions efforts with institutional goals and initiatives.
    • Represent Dominican University New York at various events, both on and off-campus, including college fairs, school visits, and community events.
    • Analyze data and trends throughout the enrollment process to inform decision-making and strategy development.
    • Foster relationships with high schools, community colleges, and other institutions to promote the University.
    • Ensure compliance with university policies and external regulations.
    • Work with other University departments and stakeholders in the development of new markets.
    • Have knowledge of relevant metrics and application of these metrics in managing the enrollment process.

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree required and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in recruitment, admissions, marketing, or management/staff supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • Demonstrated leadership abilities in the admissions field
    • Strong public relations skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to professionally interact with all levels of students, staff, faculty, and external groups
    • Willingness and ability to travel and work evenings, nights, and weekends
    • Experience with Slate (Jenzabar, and PowerFAIDS a plus)
    • Experience working with international students and families
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
    • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish is preferred
