Dominican University New York, invites applications for TWO open positions as Graduate Assistants (GA) within the Office of Student Engagement. Both positions have an anticipated start date of August 1st, 2024. Under the leadership of the Director of Student Engagement, the GA will play vital role in overseeing the Student Engagement Lounge, collaborating on the planning and execution of various campus events and programs, and providing essential administrative support within the Office of Student Engagement. The GA will work up to 25 hours per week within the Office of Student Engagement which will include night and weekend hours. In addition, the GA will participate in the on-call Residence Life duty rotation as required and will respond to incidents on campus after normal working hours. The successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for enhancing the student experience, have strong organizational skills, and the ability to work flexible hours.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required along with having a valid driver’s license with the ability to drive University vehicles. Flexibility, ability to take initiative, and willingness to be a team player. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Understanding of and interest in working with a diverse student population. Ability to work independently and effectively on multiple tasks. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.) Excellent customer service and people skills. Experience in planning, managing and executing student events and campus programing is preferred but not required.
**Applicants must be in the process of being accepted/enrolled into one of our graduate programs or already enrolled in one of our graduate programs. We recommended applicants seek acceptance into the MS-OLC program, as this program is specifically designed for the working professional as it is 100% online. However, acceptance and or being enrolled in any DUNY graduate program will qualify for this position. Furthermore, successful candidates MUST be a matriculated graduate student at Dominican University New York to maintain this position.
This is a 10 month (August-May) live-in position. This position includes the following:
· $1,500 stipend per semester (2 semesters)
