The Palisades Institute of Dominican College is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Executive Director. Effective December 15, Stanley J. Jacoby will assume the position of Executive Director of the Palisades Institute. Mr. Jacoby has been a long standing member of the Board of Advisors of the Institute.
Most recently, Mr. Jacoby was the Executive Director of Rockland County Workforce Investment Board and the Director of Employee Rights, Relations, and Training of Rockland County.
He began his career at Bell Labs as an engineer in disaster-resistant building design and construction, and subsequently served in a number of executive positions at AT&T and Verizon. Drawing on his experience in the telecom sector, Mr. Jacoby established a management consulting and training practice, serving private, public, and non-profit clients. He presented workshops and trainings on leadership, quality management, customer service, harassment prevention and more.
Mr. Jacoby has served on educational and governmental advisory boards, including the Board of Examiners for the Governor’s Award for Excellence in both New York State and New Jersey and the boards at Rockland Community College and Dominican College. He was also an adjunct professor of Project Management and Quality Management at Polytechnic University.
He is a professional engineer (P.E.) in New York State and a senior professional in human resources (SPHR). Mr. Jacoby holds an M.S. in Engineering Mechanics from Columbia University, an M.S. in Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, and a B.S. in Civil engineering from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He has certificates from Cornell University in Equal Employment Opportunity policies and complaint handling.
The Palisades Institute was created in 1990 as part of Dominican College in Blauvelt, N.Y. to serve for-profit, government, and not-for-profit organizations. The Palisades Institute is based on the belief that people in all organizations are confronted with a myriad of issues in their work lives which would be better handled with a greater understanding and application of the principles of Quality, Leadership and Ethics. The Institute offers seminars and workshops that address issues related to the integration of these principles from a variety of perspectives.
