Borrow
All students, faculty, administrators, and staff with a valid DC1-Card may borrow material from the library.
Library material can be checked out and returned anytime during normal business hours at the circulation desk. Material may also be returned after hours by using the book drop located outside across from the library entrance.
Patrons may view their checkouts online by going to the Online Catalog and clicking the link to "My Account". Once in "My Account", click "Review My Account". Patrons will be prompted to log into e-Library using their User ID (DUNY campus network username) and password. Type the username in all capital letters. For example, FIRSTNAME.LASTNAME1. The default password is 8-digits long and will be the patron's birthday formatted as year, month and day. For example, someone born on October 16th, 1998 would have a PIN of 19981016. Call the circulation desk at 845-848-7505 with any questions about accessing your e-Library account.
General Collection
Anyone in the Dominican University community and affiliated borrowers may borrow books from the General Collection.
Reserves
Anyone in the Dominican University community may borrow reserve books. Reserve books may be checked out for up to three hours and may not leave the library. For more information on Reserves, please visit our Course Reserves page.
Non-circulating Material
Reference books and periodicals can only be used in the library.
Holds
Holds may be placed on material that is checked out to another patron. A hold may be placed at the circulation desk with a staff member. Unfortunately, holds cannot be placed on reserve materials.
Fines
Fines will be charged to students for overdue material. The library is not obligated to notify a patron of overdue material. Overdue books will accrue at a rate of $0.05 per day. Patrons with more than $5.00 in fines will be restricted from borrowing material until the fine is resolved.
Diplomas will be withheld from a student whose library account is not in good standing. Patrons will be notified at the end of each semester if they have a Registrar's hold attached to their account.
Renew
Material may be renewed as long as no one has placed a "hold" on it. You can renew in person at the circulation desk, over the phone by calling 845-848-7505, or via the Online Catalog by clicking "My Account" and "Renew My Materials". Material that has reached the renewal limit cannot be renewed. Please refer to the table above for borrowing periods.
Request
The Sullivan Library welcomes suggestions to purchase items to add to our collection. Before completing the form on this page, please check our Online Catalog to see if a title is already available.
If you need quick access to a title we do not own, please take advantage of our Interlibrary Loan service.
Placing a request does not guarantee a purchase will be made.
Suggest a Purchase
The Sullivan Library evaluates requests for suggested purchases throughout the year based on the needs of our patrons and the university. Please indicate the reason you feel a book, journal or item should be added to the collection in the form below. All recommendations are reviewed by librarians before purchase. Filling out the form does not guarantee that the library will purchase the suggested material. You will receive a confirmation email upon submitting the request. We thank you for your interest!
