Room Reservations

There are currently three rooms in the library that can be reserved by students and/or faculty & staff. See below for room descriptions and reservation policies:

Large Study Room (Learning Commons)

  • Accommodates up to 8 people
  • Includes: Smart TV, whiteboard, speaker, HDMI cable.
  • Dell Latitude Laptop (Windows 10) with Smart Notebook 16 and Apple Mini-DisplayPort or USB-C adapter can be checked-out for five hours at a time with Learning Commons staff. Please see laptop circulation policy here.

Small Study Room (Learning Commons)

  • Accommodates up to 6 people
  • Includes: Interactive whiteboard & markers, whiteboard, projector, speaker, HDMI cable.
  • Dell Latitude Laptop (Windows 10) with Smart Notebook 16 and Apple Mini-DisplayPort or USB-C adapter can be checked-out for five hours at a time with Learning Commons staff. Please see laptop circulation policy here.

Merrill Instructional Lab/Rosary Hall Computer Lab

  • Accommodates approximately 30 people
  • Includes: 20 thin-client PCs (running Windows), projector, speaker, whiteboard
  • The Sullivan Library coordinates use of the Merrill Instructional Lab. Must be reserved by faculty & staff by emailing the Information Literacy Librarian or calling (845) 848-7506.

To reserve a study room, please verify the room is available at your desired time by checking the calendar on the right. Then, fill out the room reservation request form or speak with a library staff member in person or by calling (845) 848-7722. Please read the room reservation policy before making a reserving a room.

Room Reservation Policy

Study Rooms

  • The Small Study room can be reserved by one person minimum; the Large Study Room can be reserved by two people minimum.
  • All DUNY students, faculty, and staff can reserve a study room.
  • Individuals and groups are allowed to use unreserved study rooms, but must place a reservation upon entering to help with communication.
  • Rooms can be reserved for up to 3 hours. Rooms can be reserved for one additional hour if not already reserved. Reservation extensions must be coordinated at the Learning Commons staff desk and may not be available the week before or during Finals Week. Additionally, the allowance of multiple reservations pre day will be made on a case by case basis.
  • Cancellations: Please inform library staff if an upcoming reservation needs to be cancelled. Those who do not extend this courtesy will find their study room privileges revoked. If you do not show up for your reservation, the reservation will be cancelled after 15 minutes.
  • Rooms can be reserved by (1) filling out the online reservation request form, or (2) visiting the Library/Learning Commons in person, or (3) calling (845) 848-7722.
  • Rooms can be reserved up to 14 days in advance.
  • Rooms are not reserved until you receive confirmation via email, over the phone, or in-person.
  • Rooms must be left in the condition you found them; please respect the space and equipment by cleaning up after yourselves. If you leave the room in an unkempt state, you will find your study room privileges revoked.
  • The Sullivan Library is not responsible for unattended items. Please do not “save” a room by leaving items in the room.
  • Laptops, Apple Mini-DisplayPort, and USB-C adapters can be borrowed for use of the study room Smartboards/projector system. Webcams can be borrowed for a 5-hour period for use in the Library. Please see a Learning Commons assistant or librarian in person to borrow these devices.

Merrill Instructional Lab/Rosary Computer Lab

  • The Sullivan Library coordinates use of the Merrill Instructional Lab.
  • The Merrill Instructional Lab is open during the week during Library hours.
  • The Sullivan Library uses the Merrill Instructional Lab for information literacy instruction. Library instruction is prioritized over all other room use.
  • The computer lab can only be reserved by faculty & staff. Club advisors must request a reservation on behalf of their club members.
  • The computer lab can be reserved by emailing the Information Literacy Librarian or calling (845) 848-7506.
  • Faculty and staff must contact library staff before using the lab during class time (don't show up with a class/group expecting to be able to use the lab).
  • While not in use for instruction, the computer lab is an open lab for individuals and small groups to use as needed.
