Library Policies

General Expectations

All patrons must produce a Dominican University New York ID to access the building. All DUNY students are expected to abide by policies set in the Student Handbook, follow the code of conduct, and all library staff instructions.

Please respect the purpose of each space:
– The Computer Lab is primarily for student use and instructional overflow.
– The Huston Room is a shared quiet work space.

– The Archives is used by appointment with the Archivist and during overflow, a shared quiet work space.
– The Learning Commons is a shared space for collaboration and research classes.

Please avoid using these areas for personal meetings, recruiting calls, or extended work sessions unless explicitly permitted.

Maintain a quiet environment in marked spaces:
– Speakerphone or video calls are not permitted in shared spaces.
– Use headphones and speak quietly if unavoidable.

Follow safety protocols:
– In the event of a fire drill or emergency, all occupants must exit the building immediately.
– Do not remain in rooms or labs during drills or alarms.

Respect your fellow patrons and all library materials.

If a library patron fails to abide by our established policies after adequate warning, he or she may be asked to leave the facility.
