Dominican University is proud to offer a hybrid program designed to help certified educators earn their Bilingual Education Extension through a focused, fast-track series of graduate-level courses.

This non-matriculated program is ideal for certified teachers looking to expand their credentials to include bilingual education. Participants will complete the coursework required by the New York State Education Department to be eligible to sit for the NYS Content Specialty Test (BEA) for the bilingual extension.

  • End Date: January 8, 2027

ED 702: Bridging Cultures:  Methods for Effective Teaching in Bilingual and Multilingual Classrooms

Eligibility

This program is designed for individuals who:

  • Hold or are in the process of earning NYS teacher certification
  • Want to add a bilingual extension to their teaching certification
  • Are prepared to take the NYS Bilingual Education Assessment (BEA) after completion.
