Designed for working professionals, classes meet every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Complete the program in as little as 18 months, or take up to three years at your own pace. Programs follow the University’s quarter system and lead to a Master of Science in Education (M.S. Ed.) with eligibility for New York State Certification.

For Certified Teachers
Teacher of Students with Disabilities (SWD)
36–39 Credit M.S.Ed Program:
Recommendation for certification as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities (SWD) and Severe/Multiple Disabilities annotation.
12–15 Credit Certification Pathway:
Initial SWD certification for those already certified in another area.
9–12 Credit Extension Pathway:
SWD-certified teachers seeking Severe/Multiple Disabilities annotation.
12 Credit Bilingual Certification Extension:
Teachers holding other certifications may pursue Bilingual Education extension.
Teacher of Students Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired (TVI) Curriculum Pathways
36-Credit M.S.Ed Pathway:
Leads to M.S. in Education and NYS Certification as a TVI teacher (including multiple impairments).
9–24 Credit Non-Matriculating Pathway:
Prepares certified teachers for the NYS TVI exam.
NYS Scholarship Funding for TED Students
New York State offers two scholarship programs that can cover tuition for Teacher Education candidates — at both the undergraduate and graduate level — in exchange for a commitment to teach in NYS public schools.
NYS Math & Science Teaching Incentive Program
Up to $3,535/semester · $7,070/year (2025–26)
Full-time undergraduate and graduate students in approved Math or Science education programs can receive tuition coverage up to the SUNY resident undergraduate rate in exchange for a commitment to teach in NYS secondary schools.
- Available at SUNY, CUNY, and private colleges statewide
- Teach Math or Science in grades 7–12 for 5 years after graduation
- No income limits · Applications open April 1st annually
- Priority given to prior recipients; new awards ranked by GPA
Masters in Education Teacher Incentive Scholarship
Up to $5,655/semester · $11,310/year (2025–26)
Graduate students in an approved master’s-level education program leading to NYS teacher certification can receive tuition coverage up to the SUNY resident graduate rate in exchange for a commitment to teach in NYS public schools.
- Undergraduate degree must have been earned at a NYS institution
- Teach in a NYS public elementary or secondary school for 5 years after graduation
- 500 new awards annually · Applications open April 1st
- Expanding to private colleges (including Dominican University) starting 2026–27
