Alumnus Credited With Possibly Saving Life of Logan Ryan’s Wife
NY Giants defensive back Logan Ryan credited physical therapist and athletic trainer Justin Maher ‘17 with possibly saving his wife Ashley’s life. In early November 2020, Maher encouraged Ryan to take his wife to the hospital for stomach pains that she wanted to “sleep off.” Ashley was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy and needed emergency surgery.
On the “Before the Snap” live webinar after the incident, Maher said it was really nice that athletes like Ryan trust the professionals they work with. “Just knowing that they trust us with their loved ones, I mean, it really means a lot. And to be able to affect someone’s life in that way, it puts a smile on your face at the end of the day.” He then added that he was just doing his job. “So, it’s nice, but it’s kind of what we do as athletic trainers. We put our heads down and work. But it’s nice to know you are appreciated,” he said on the program.
