A Dominican University Love Story
Mary Minogue ’88 originally met Neal Richard ’90 when they were in some of the same classes at Dominican University. After Mary graduated in 1988, they went their separate ways. Many years later, they met again, this time while Mary was working a second job after her home flooded in Hurricane Irene. Mary remembered Neal as the talkative guy who always wore the T-shirt from his volunteer EMT work – an avocation that they both share to this day. Neal later reached out to Mary via Facebook and they started dating. The COVID-19 pandemic provided another memorable moment in their relationship; they got engaged! They are now planning their wedding for April of 2021.
“I truly believe that God blesses us for the pain we go through and there is a reason for everything. We may not know why things happen at the particular time it happens, but God is good and we should not question Him or His plans,” said Mary. “ If it wasn’t for the flood, I would not have been working my night job and would never have reconnected with Neal. Everything is truly for a reason.”
