Men’s Basketball
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020-2021 athletic teams all saw reductions in their game schedules. The men’s basketball team was scheduled to play in 11 games this season, but was only able to play eight and finished with an overall record of 4-4 and a CACC record of 4-3.
DC finished in second place in the CACC. Due to teams ending up in COVID-19 quarantine protocols, there was no CACC Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament this year.
The Chargers earned their third straight berth in the NCAA East Regional Tournament, hosted by The College of Saint Rose at the Albany Capital Center. Dominican earned the #4 seed and faced #5 Caldwell University in a quarterfinal matchup. DC’s rally in the second half fell short as they lost, 65-62, to end their season.
Jaylen Burgess was named the CACC Player and Defensive Player of the Year, along with being named to the All-Conference Team. Burgess ranked second in the CACC in scoring (16.6 ppg), while currently topping the charts in rebounding at 11.7 boards an outing. He also ranked second in the CACC in steals with 17.
Teammate Tedrick Wilcox was also named to the CACC All-Conference Team. He ranked third in the conference in three-point field goal percentage, fourth in scoring, fifth in field goal percentage and ninth infield goals. Wilcox was second on the Chargers in scoring and rebounding.
