Freshman Advisor and Support Specialist
Dominican University seeks a Freshman Advisor and Support Specialist commencing August 15, 2017. This is a full-time, 12-month position. The Freshman Advisor and Support Specialist establishes contact with incoming Freshmen considered at-risk during the registration process and continues to work with these students throughout their Freshman year as needed. Utilizing SAGE reports and through contact with faculty of Freshman-level courses, the Freshman Advisor and Support Specialist assists at-risk students develop workable strategies to foster and improve their academic success through required and regular individual meetings and, if needed, in group workshops. He/she will also work closely with students in the Peer Mentor Program and assist in coordinating their activities with the University.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required. Familiarity with college academic programs, requirements and campus resources; excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills; must adhere to confidentiality requirements; ability to interact with students with patience and sensitivity; excellent computer skills. Qualified candidate will be self-motivated, proactive and deadline oriented. Two years’ experience in a college academic office a plus.
