Bobby Mulligan was a member of the Dominican University men’s basketball team when he tragically passed away on August 30, 1987. An accomplished player, Bobby was known for his competitiveness on the court. Off the Court he was recognized as a loyal individual with exceptional perseverance. Before the start of his senior year, Bobby had amassed 912 career points and would have assuredly reached the 1,000-point mark. He was posthumously added to the list. The Bobby Mulligan Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in his honor to benefit the student body.

Sue Heller, the first Lady Charger to score 1,000 career points, passed away on January 17, 2001. In her honor, the 1,000-point club was renamed the Sue Heller 1,000-Point Club, and one women’s basketball game each year will be played in her memory. A fierce competitor, Sue was extremely proud of her accomplishments at Dominican University, especially her 1998 induction into the Dominican University Athletic Hall of Fame. In addition to her athletic success, she graduated in 1980 with a B.A. in psychology and certification in special education. To perpetuate her legacy, The Sue Heller Memorial Scholarship fund has been established at Dominican University.

This conference began in the 1980’s. Late each Spring semester, during the last 1-2 weeks of school, Dominican University Psychology Program hosts an undergraduate psychology conference.  All Dominican Psychology majors present their capstone research at the conference as part of their senior seminar (PS472) requirements. Most students present their research orally using PowerPoint slides but occasionally present posters.

The conference is open to any undergraduate students who wish to present psychological research or theoretical papers, regardless of whether they are students in PS472. In addition, other universities and high schools are welcome to present or attend (high school students are limited to presenting posters unless they receive special permission from the Conference Coordinator).

Please join us for our “finest hour” at our 5th Annual Doing Business Right (DBR) Night on Wednesday, December 3rd at 4pm in the Holt Room in the Hennessy Center on DUNY’s campus.

We call DBR Night our “finest hour” because it is when some of our top students share their best projects, internships, or other experiences with the DUNY community. In just over one hour, you will see:

The Market Research project conducted by our students for the Village of Nyack
A summary of our Palisades Institute research and forum on “Managing a Remote Workforce”
A Sports Media & Promotion project on NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness)
An Information Systems project conducted by IT students this semester
Four winning poster presentations for the Nike marketing project in our Senior Capstone
Highlights of student moderated podcasts from DUNIFY – our new space on Spotify

We will also preview some of the innovation and research that is taking place next semester – including work on tariffs and AI.

To hear more from our students and faculty, check out the many new podcasts on DUNIFY (on Spotify). You can also learn more about what our students are up to by following their posts @duny_biz on Instagram.
