Shared Traditions: Ash Wednesday & Ramadan Dinner

An Interfaith Reflection on Fasting, Faith, and Community.

Join us for a unique evening as we bring together two significant spiritual traditions. This year, the beginning of Lent and the preparation for Ramadan coincide, offering a beautiful opportunity for the DUNY community to explore the shared practice of fasting.

Through a shared meal and guided reflection, we will discuss how different faiths use fasting as a tool for spiritual discipline, gratitude, and solidarity with those in need.

Trunk or Treat

The Office of Student Engagement invites faculty and staff to be part of this year’s Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 5:30–7:30 p.m.

This is one of our favorite community traditions — last year we welcomed over 200 families, but we only had about 10 decorated cars. This year, we need your help and support to make the event bigger and better than ever!
Departments, classes, and teams are encouraged to join by decorating a trunk  and handing out candy to families. All trunks will automatically be entered into our Car Competitions  for categories like Fan Favorite, Best Overall Theme, and Most Creative Decorations, with prizes for the winners!
Register your trunk here: Trunk or Treat Registration Form
We’re also collecting candy donations so we have backup in case trunks run out during the event. Donations can be dropped off anytime between now and October 23 at the CSEC (Granito 206).
There will be fun for all ages and desserts for purchase from La Casa Di Dolce. This event is a true community celebration for ALL of DUNY — so whether you participate with a trunk, donate candy, or just attend with your family, we’d love for you to be part of it.
Thank you for helping us grow this tradition and make it a festive night for our students, colleagues, and community!
