Campus-wide Day of Service

The DUNY Interfaith Connect team will be hosting a Campus-wide Day of Service on Tuesday, November 18th from 12:00pm-3:30pm in the Granito Extension.

We will be packing hygiene kits that will be donated to the Afya Foundation for their humanitarian projects.  This project is made possible through the support of the Faith and Health grant we were awarded by Interfaith America.

These enhancements will help cultivate interfaith competency through planned service work with diverse populations and through guided discussions highlighting the commonalities and differences in the ways diverse faith traditions approach topics related to healthcare, well-being, spirituality, personal vocation, care of the earth, and concern for others.

For more information, please contact: Dr. Mary Walsh Roche mary.walshroche@duny.edu

When: Tuesday, October 14, 2025
Time: 2:15 p.m.
Where: Hennessy Center, Holt Room (in-person)

Our seminar speaker, Tricia Bautista, is a board-certified physician in family medicine and an addiction specialist.  Currently, she serves as the Director of Substance Use Services for Correctional Health Services and cares for justice involved patients on Rikers Island and in NYC Health + Hospitals.  Through her medical training, she has developed an expertise in addiction medicine, community-based harm reduction, and overdose prevention, and her interests have focused on caring for marginalized, vulnerable populations.  Her talk titled, "Breaking Barriers: Substance Use Care for Incarcerated Patients”, which will touch upon her nontraditional path to medicine, all of which has led her toward a deep commitment to caring for some of society’s most vulnerable populations.

Attached you will find our flyer for the talk including a quick summary on the topic as well as the zoom registration information for those attending remotely.

Please note, you do not need to register if you are planning on attending in-person

Trunk or Treat

The Office of Student Engagement invites faculty and staff to be part of this year’s Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 5:30–7:30 p.m.

This is one of our favorite community traditions — last year we welcomed over 200 families, but we only had about 10 decorated cars. This year, we need your help and support to make the event bigger and better than ever!
Departments, classes, and teams are encouraged to join by decorating a trunk  and handing out candy to families. All trunks will automatically be entered into our Car Competitions  for categories like Fan Favorite, Best Overall Theme, and Most Creative Decorations, with prizes for the winners!
Register your trunk here: Trunk or Treat Registration Form
We’re also collecting candy donations so we have backup in case trunks run out during the event. Donations can be dropped off anytime between now and October 23 at the CSEC (Granito 206).
There will be fun for all ages and desserts for purchase from La Casa Di Dolce. This event is a true community celebration for ALL of DUNY — so whether you participate with a trunk, donate candy, or just attend with your family, we’d love for you to be part of it.
Thank you for helping us grow this tradition and make it a festive night for our students, colleagues, and community!

Pillars & Progress

Dominican University Faculty and Staff are warmly invited to join us for an open discussion;

Pillars & Progress: The Dominican Tradition Meets Artificial Intelligence.

Together, we’ll explore in conversation how the four pillars of Dominican life; prayer, study, community, and service, might inform and shape our understanding of artificial intelligence and vice versa. Attached is a brief document with relevant quotes.

All participants will be welcome to join the dialogue. We hope you’ll join us in this meaningful exchange of ideas as we bring our Dominican heritage into conversation with the challenges and opportunities of AI.

Our special thanks to the faculty who will kick-start parts of the conversation: Gwen Daugs, Rubina Singh, Rob Stauffer, and Peter Antich.
