I am a graduate student at Dominican University of New York in their occupational therapy master’s program. This is a weekend program that allows students like myself to balance work, personal responsibilities and school to promote flexibility and enhance my education. The faculty here in the occupational therapy program are extremely supportive in providing the care and knowledge the student needs to succeed in this program. Their support truly makes a difference as it motivates the student to know their professor will help them in becoming successful future occupational therapy practitioners. I am currently a member of Pi Theta Epsilon (PTE) which is a specialized honor society for occupational therapy students and alumni. Being in this honor society has offered me networking opportunities and connections that can last a lifetime. This OT program allows their students to develop research projects to advocate for the profession and showcase their findings at the New York State Occupational Therapy Association (NYSOTA) conference and American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) conference. I am grateful for the knowledge and skills this OT program has provided me to become a successful occupational therapist.

The occupational therapy program at Dominican University is truly exceptional. The close-knit atmosphere fosters an environment where students can flourish and develop their skills to their fullest potential. The professors are not only highly knowledgeable but also passionate about their subjects, seamlessly blending academic excellence with their real-world experience. The professors are actively engaged in research and continually update their teachings with the latest developments in the field. What sets this program apart is the personalized support offered to each student. If someone encounters challenges, the dedicated faculty members will meticulously craft a tailored plan to help them overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. Additionally, the weekend/one Weekday format provides flexibility to all students which makes it possible for students to balance work, home-life, and studies effectively. I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of such a remarkable college program, where learning is not just about textbooks, but about crafting the future of occupational therapy in a practical and supportive environment.
