Basketball Coach Joe Clinton Inducted into Union College Athletics Hall of Fame

Clinton UHOF2Dominican College Director of Athletics and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Joe Clinton was inducted into the Union College Athletics Hall of Fame on November 14, 2015.

Clinton is a 1983 graduate of Union College and traveled up to Schenectady, NY, with his family for the ceremony.  “It was really a nice night.  All my buddies from college, my roommates, my teammates and my coach came back,” said Clinton.  “It was good reminiscing.”

At Union College, Clinton was a standout on the basketball court and set the all-time assists record as a junior,  finishing his career with 556 assists, while also owning the single season and game records for most assists with 182 and 15 respectively.  In addition, Clinton graduated as the third highest all-time scorer with 1,270 points, a mark that now ranks 11th.

A two-year team captain, Clinton helped the Dutchmen to an overall record of 20-4 and a NCAA tournament berth his  senior year.  Clinton was also a great baseball player, and played for the Dutchmen in 1982 and 1984.

It’s been an exciting year for Clinton , who was inducted into the Rockland County Sports Hall of Fame back in April.  Clinton is also a member of the  Hall of Fame at Albertus Magnus High School in Bardonia.
