Student Honoree Delivers Baccalaureate Address
During the Virtual Commencement, the College’s highest honor, the Mother Geraldine Forkel Award for Academic Excellence, was presented to Brianne Botta, a social sciences major who earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average and is now pursuing a master’s degree in occupational therapy at Dominican University.
Botta delivered the Baccalaureate Student Address and spoke of Mother Teresa’s quote: “God does not call us to do great things, but to do small things with great love.” Botta told her fellow graduates, “If there is something we should keep in mind after we leave here today, this is it. We may not have the opportunity to do grand things, but each time we make the choice to do good for one person, we do good for the world.”
Two other graduates were also honored for their extraordinary academic achievements. The Sr. Michele Nugent Award for Achievement in the Student of the General Education Curriculum was presented to Shannon Elizabeth Stapleton, a psychology major who earned a 3.89 GPA. The Sr. Natalie Casey Award for Academic Excellence was presented to Amelia Bruzzi, a nursing student with at 3.94 GPA.
