Learning Experience Opportunities
Building Character as You Discover Your Evolving Potential
Internship
SOHLIS offers a variety of exciting internship opportunities just for STEM students. To participate you need a minimum of 30 credits, with at least 15 credits taken at Dominican University and a GPA of at least 2.7.
Summer Research
Dominican University students and students from our cooperating community college may apply to the Dominican University New York Undergraduate Research Program in one of the following fields: biodiversity, computational biology, or organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry. Successful applicants will receive a summer stipend for their participation in this program.
STEM Seminars
Upper-level students and their families are invited to participate in the Science Seminar Series with culturally diversified STEM speakers and role models.
STEM Work Shop
Take a deeper dive into STEM with professional tutors. Make an appointment for a personal tutoring session and attend 25 curriculum-based workshops just for SOLHLIS students.

Advisory Board
To support our commitment to excellence and innovation Dominican University has established a stakeholder and STEM employer advisory board. Corporate STEM Professionals and Dominican University New York Faculty will enhance the curriculum to meet and exceed highly sought industry competencies.
High School Science Camp
Rockland County high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors interested in science are invited to apply for the prestigious Summer Environmental Science Camp at Dominican University New York. Twenty students will be selected for this distinguished program.
Alumni Panel
Upper-level students are invited to join us for the Dominican University STEM Alumni Panel Event. This question and answer session will provide valuable career advice and resources.

Student Life & Residence Hall Activities
STEM students residing at Guzmán Hall enjoy living in cohorts that are part of a larger, supportive, and fun STEM community. Resident assistants organize STEM activities and study opportunities for community members. Guzmán Hall offers apartment style living with central air, inviting finishes, private bedrooms, and semi-private bathrooms. Every floor offers a study lounge with quiet study areas, a group work space, and casual seating.
