Dominican University President Dr. Manuel Martínez is proud to announce the creation of the Ministry & Student Emergency Fund, a compassionate initiative designed to support students in times of need. Inspired by the spirit of the Dominican Founders, this fund provides essential financial assistance to students facing unexpected emergencies and helps ease the burden of needs-based experiences.

Student Emergencies

Emergencies can strike at any moment—whether it’s a fire, flood, travel expenses due to a family member’s passing, or unexpected medical costs. These unforeseen situations disrupt daily life, but for students, they can jeopardize their ability to complete their education. Unfortunately, we’ve seen students delay or even withdraw from their studies due to the weight of a small, unexpected expense. Your support can make all the difference in keeping their academic journey on track.

Service-Based Experience

Many students at Dominican University are deeply passionate about service. The University offers transformative opportunities, such as serving in El Salvador or participating in the Alternative Spring Break program. While students work hard to fundraise, those from under-resourced communities often fall short of their goals. Some are unable to participate simply because of a small financial gap. Your generous gift can help remove the barrier of economic fragility, allowing students to engage fully in these life-changing experiences and share their time and talents in service to others.

Sister Jenn Schaaf of Mission & Ministry and Margaret Treacy of Institutional Advancement have worked together to create this fund to support students through times of hardship. Every donation goes directly to help a student in need, ensuring that financial challenges no longer stand in the way of their education or their desire to serve.
