As a transfer student, I was initially nervous about joining a new program where I didn’t know anyone. But from the moment I stepped into my first class on campus, I felt at home. The professors and fellow students welcomed me with open arms, creating a supportive, family-like environment where we all grow and learn together. Throughout my time in the Teacher Education program, I’ve had incredible classes, meaningful conversations, and unforgettable experiences. I truly can’t imagine being part of any other program.

My time in the Teacher Education Program at Dominican University was filled with hands-on classroom experiences that were both challenging and rewarding. The interactive classes blended theory with real-world application, and the professors were deeply invested in our success. Small class sizes allowed for personalized attention and meaningful discussions. One standout experience was the immersive student-teaching placement in a diverse community, where I applied my learning while being mentored by experienced educators. The program truly prepared me to become a thoughtful, reflective, and effective educator.

The DUNY Teacher Education Program is truly one-of-a-kind. With a hands-on, dynamic approach to learning, the professors are not only experts in their fields but are also genuinely invested in our growth. The classes are engaging, collaborative, and thoughtfully designed to prepare us for real-world teaching challenges. I especially valued the emphasis on practical experience, where I had the chance to work in diverse classrooms and build lasting relationships with mentors. The faculty supported me every step of the way, fostering both my professional and personal development.

As one of the few students who earned certification in both Grades 1-6 and Grades 7-12, I am proud to be a graduate of Dominican University’s Teacher Education Program. The support I received from the professors in the TED department was invaluable in shaping my teaching career. Now, as a 7th-grade social studies teacher, I feel fully prepared to step into the classroom and make an impact, thanks to the skills and knowledge I gained from the program. The TED program helped me develop confidence, a strong work ethic, time management skills, creativity, and so much more. From mock lessons to constructive feedback from professors and peers, every experience contributed to my growth as an educator. I am truly grateful for the relationships I built and the expertise I gained through the TED program, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
