Dr. Weissman is a full-time faculty member at Dominican University in the Division of Nursing. She has been teaching at Dominican since 1997. She has been in nursing for over 40 years working in pediatric primary care. She also works as a pediatric nurse practitioner in a primary care office in Rockland County. She has been involved with United Hospice of Rockland and sits on the Health Advisory Board for Head Start of Rockland. Her focus is on ensuring the health of children and their families both physically and psychologically. She is certified by American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Professional Interests:
Dr. Weissman’s professional interests include primary care of mental health and obesity in children from birth to 21 years as well as cultural competency across the lifespan.

Professor Furlong is board-certified as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Her clinical experience includes working in critical care settings (MICU, SICU, CTICU, and CCU) and in peri-operative services (Operating Room, PACU, and Ambulatory Care). She has worked in various positions at major medical centers throughout the New York area; as a staff nurse at New York University Medical Center, Nurse Educator at Sound Shore Medical Center, Clinical Nurse Specialist at Montefiore Medical Center (Einstein Division), and Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner at Westchester Medical Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center. Professor Furlong’s teaching experience includes adjunct at New York University for their accelerated program in nursing, Nurse Educator for Sound Shore Medical Center. She is currently delighted to be teaching at Dominican University in the graduate nursing programs.
Professional Interests:
Professor Furlong is the current President of Sigma Theta Tau, Zeta Omega Chapter At Large – the National Honor Society for Nursing. She also serves as a member of the Dominican University Academic Technology Committee.
