History Specialization in Humanities

The History specialization in Humanities requires 18 semester hours in History beyond any courses taken to fulfill the GEC and Humanities Core requirements.  This specialization requires that students complete three foundation courses: a classical period course, a Medieval period course, and a U.S. history course. Students then must select three elective courses according to the following distribution: one elective course must be from United States History, one elective course must be from Non-Western and Global History, and one elective course must come from either United States History or European History.

In addition to the Humanities specialization described here, the University offers a separate major program in History. Consult the History section for program details.
